Janet's House

Kingdom Impact provides regular support for Janet's House, a small orphanage in Lilongwe which is run by Lesita, Pastor Booker Banda's wife. It was established with a legacy from a young Scottish woman called Janet and is named in her memory.

The orphanage has nine  live-in children but feeds many others from the local community. These children are in great need. Some live in extended families who cannot afford to feed the extra mouths every day, others may be destitute, so on Tuesday and Friday they come to Janet's House for a meal.

Widows from the area also come for a meal two or three times a week. Widows often do not have any means of supporting themselves so Janet's House is a life line for them.

Our support for Janet's House

We provide ongoing support for this work through monthly contributions which help to feed and clothe the resident children, pay for staff to care for them and also to support the orphans and widows in the feeding programme.  As funds allow we are looking to provide additional support for education and occupational training for teenagers. Long term we are seeking to make Janet's House self-sustaining.

Cyclone Freddy

In March 2023, Cyclone Freddy brought severe flooding in southern Malawi. The floods swept away houses, possessions, crops etc, leaving many without shelter and food.

Our partner, Helix Chigon'mlunje, appealed to us for help and we were able to send a donation of cash immediately. This was used to buy blankets and food for cyclone survivors in Chikhwawa district.

In April 2023, we sent further funds to supply 43 households with maize seeds and pesticides so they can replant in the dry season which is just beginning. With more funding, we could enable more families to rebuild their lives and regain independence in this way.

See our Cyclone Freddy page for pictures of families receiving aid.

Clean Water Project

Many people in Malawi do not have access to clean water, leaving them vulnerable to disease and unable to irrigate their land. We work with our Malawian partners, Holy Dwelling Church and Helix Chigon'mlunje, to provide reliable sources of clean water through boreholes.

Could you help us to provide boreholes for more villages in Malawi?
